Sliders is littered with "17" references which I finally figured out today equals God.
The key was in the context of lines.
Such as when one of the Sliders catches a common sickness HERE tgat they never developed meds for THERE making it deadly, the Doc sends them to room "17".
The context tells us that 17 os where they will be HEALED.
