The 20 Freescale employees, among 239 people on flight MH370, were mostly engineers and other experts working to make the company’s chip facilities in Tianjin, China, and Kuala Lumpur more efficient, said Mitch Haws, vice president, global communications and investor relations.

“These were people with a lot of experience and technical background and they were very important people,” Haws said. “It’s definitely a loss for the company.”

In Malaysia, Freescale’s modern operations facility that manufactures and tests integrated circuits (IC) is based in Petaling Jaya.

Quantum networks form an important element of quantum computing and quantum communication systems. Quantum networks facilitate the transmission of information in the form of quantum bits, also called qubits, between physically separated quantum processors.

A quantum processor is a small quantum computer being able to perform quantum logic gates on a certain number of qubits. Quantum networks work in a similar way to classical networks. The main difference is that quantum networking, like quantum computing, is better at solving certain problems, such as modeling quantum systems.

III-V Semiconductor heterostructures (e.g. GaAs, InP, InAs, etc) form the backbone of today’s opto-electronics combining ultrafast electronics (e.g. HEMT), low-power optics together with the conversion between electronics and optics.

The industrial development of this material class has also been fruitfully utilized in the field of QIPC. Employing nanofabrication and/or self-assembling techniques, quantum dots have been defined that can be addressed electrically and/or optically. The emerging field of quantum opto-electronics can provide an interface between solid state qubits and single-photon quantum optics.

The quantum internet is a theoretical system of interconnected quantum computers that uses quantum signals to send information rather than radio waves. ... The quantum internet would most likely become a specialized branch of the classic internet, making it a solution for very specialized applications.

A single-mode microcavity with an embedded Aharonov-Bohm quantum ring, which is pierced by a magnetic flux and subjected to a lateral electric field, is studied theoretically. It is shown that external electric and magnetic fields provide additional means of control of the emission spectrum of the system.

The Aharonov–Bohm effect, sometimes called the Ehrenberg–Siday–Aharonov–Bohm effect, is a quantum mechanical phenomenon in which an electrically charged particle is affected by an electromagnetic potential (φ, A), despite being confined to a region in which both the magnetic field B and electric field E are zero.

Quantum Interference Becomes Measurable If two leads are attached to a small conducting ring, and a magnetic field is applied perpendicular to that ring, then the conductance of the system will vary as the magnetic field is adjusted (Aharonov–Bohm effect).
