I was talking with a guy the other day who suggested covid brought people closer together. An exaggerated flu that we have been "dealing with" for roughly a year. Yet the Charter of Rights and Freedoms has united us in law of mutual respect for almost 40 years, and not one single person I've talked to across ten provinces can recite it for me. The sad and tragic irony is, covid impinges upon nearly every single one of our Charter Rights and Freedoms, from fundamental freedoms to mobility rights, to security of the person, to freedom from cruel and unusual treatment or punishment, and more. The only acceptable "unity" is a constitutional one.
