That's such a great way to put it! Compare how we got here to, say, the Jonestown cult/murders, and the similarities are quite striking. Jonestown started off good helping others are any church would, then went dark and kept going darker, eliminating members' opinions and "wrong think" punishing those who weren't 100% on board with the other cult sheep and leaders, until the members weren't allowed to leave due to brainwashing, guilt or physical force
