I don't know if they've kept it up, but for the first year after the shooting, the students of Sandy Hook Elementary along with parents and teachers marched. The school got bulldozed after what happened. I recognized the stage at the high school from which Obama gave his speech.

I don’t know you either. I grew up in Newtown. I attended Newtown High School and graduated in 2005. Before all of this, we were known for our massive flagpole in the middle of Main Street. We also have bizarre zoning laws that allow Starbucks to move in, but not McDonald's. That awful day, I got a text from my sister saying there had been a shooting, and at they were saying it was the middle school. I texted a friend whose mom worked as a lunch lady at the middle school. She was frantic. And then the clarification came that it was the elementary school. My dad lived there at the time....
