✈️🇺🇸 The First Lady & President Kennedy
re-designed Air Force One in May 1962.
A Boeing C-137 Stratoliner:
8-crew, 40 passengers, range of 6k miles.
The First Lady had a hand
in designing the interior of the plane
as well as choosing the light blue exterior
because JFK liked blue.
She made sure the President had a private entrance,
stateroom, conference room,
glassware from Tiffany’s & a pale blue rug
with an American Eagle in the center of 13 stars.
The color scheme became known as ‘Jackie Kennedy Blue.’
President Kennedy specified that the lettering
“The United States of America’ be similar to the lettering
on the heading of the Declaration of Independence.
President Trump had the Declaration
brought to his Oval Office.
The current blue & white outer colors of AF1
are the original JFK colors
but President Trump has redesigned AF1.
President Kennedy’s AF1, that carried his body from Dallas,
is in the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force 🇺🇸
