Senate Leader John Thune will now bring the SAVE Act to the floor via a "standing filibuster" - requiring continuous debate on the bill up for passage. If this cannot be maintained, the chamber majority can move to the nuclear option, and pass the bill with a 50-vote simple majority and the VP tie breaking vote.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna: "We got assurances on the standing filibuster...this is an old-school procedure to break through traditional norms to get voter ID passed."
