House Republicans Introduce Sweeping Election Integrity Bill

Republicans have introduced the Make Elections Great Again (MEGA) Act, a House bill led by Rep. Brian Steil that aims to tighten election rules ahead of the midterms.Key provisions would require photo ID to vote,documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register,stronger routine cleanup of state voter rolls,and the use of auditable paper ballots for federal elections. The bill would also ban ballot harvesting, ranked-choice voting, and universal vote-by-mail, and would require mail ballots to be received by Election Day to be counted.It would codify a Trump executive order restricting federal agencies from funding partisan voter-registration efforts.
