Stand by sanity, stand for principles, do what is good and right. Many have allowed standards to slip to be “kind” but it is unkind to lower standards. I was a prof for 25 years and faced people who wanted me to lower standards for students who had not been prepared as well as needed to get a Master’s degree. I explained I would help them learn to meet the standards expected of a person with an advanced degree. I showed respect and did not infantilize them as the left demands. These students were not ashamed because they learned how to learn. That makes people feel good, able, competent and proficient. Now they’re saying my approach is racist and I disagree. It is empowering and not discrimination.
