U.S. Congressman Doug LaMalfa, who represented Northern California in the U.S. House of Representatives, passed away on Monday at Enloe Hospital following a medical emergency at his home.
According to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, emergency personnel responded to a 911 call from LaMalfa’s residence around 6:50 p.m. 
LaMalfa was taken to Enloe Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He passed away during the procedure.
The Coroner’s Unit of the Butte County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of death.
