Kevin Arkadie, a screenwriter, producer, and director known for co-creating the groundbreaking police drama New York Undercover and contributing to series like The Shield, NYPD Blue, and Chicago Hope, died on December 17, 2025, at the age of 68.
He was born on December 10, 1957, in the USA
, and was a champion of representation for actors of color in television, particularly through New York Undercover, which was the first American police procedural to center two detectives of color.
His career spanned decades, beginning in theater with plays such as A Life Like the Rest and Up the Mountain, before transitioning to television writing and production.
The cause of his death was pneumonia that developed after a kidney transplant, as confirmed by his cousin and producer, L. True Green.
