Supposedly Gong Show creator and host Chuck Barris was a CIA hitman also, as portrayed by the always-good Sam Rockwell in the bizarre "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind."

Barris also created "The Dating Game." It's said the winning prize was a trip to a destination where Barris had a contract to kill someone, as he accompanied winners as the "chaperon." So instead of tropical destinations, winners sometimes went to strange places like West Berlin or Helsinki, Finland.
