Every year, Inverness marks the countdown to Christmas with a much-loved local tradition involving Nessie.

For the final twelve days before Christmas, the Loch Ness Monster is said to appear along the River Ness, wrapped in festive lights and glowing softly across the water.

Over time, the tradition has become a familiar part of the city’s Christmas celebrations, with “dressing Nessie” now regarded as just as essential to an Inverness Christmas as mince pies and mulled wine. 🦕 🎄
