Hollywood LOSE THEIR MINDS After Billy Bob Thornton DESTROYS The View

I recently watched some Taylor Sheridan stuff - including Landman - after never seeing any of it. (That's disappointing to now know Sam Elliot is the exact opposite of his Marlboro Man image - Sheridan's apparent role model he bases his protagonists on.)

I have to say I found Sheridan had some interesting, compelling stories. Landman's oil business is a great, understudied subject and I found it pretty interesting.

However, I also found each production to be totally hamstrung by Sheridan's complete inability to craft anything but cartoonish female characters - almost all of whom are blonde, over-sexed mental patients who cry 80 percent of the time. It's exhausting. I found myself fast-forwarding through those parts, which simply further underline those characteristics.

1883, 1923 & Landman were each screwed up by these whack-job women characters. Too bad, because each production has something going for it.
