Our GHOSTS prefer to fly the C-17i, which is disadvantaged by it's very low maximum payload capacity (being inflatable & all), but it does sport the advantage of fitting in a backpack for just such an occasion.
The standard issue C-17, on the other hand, is perfect for those heavy payloads with its cockpit and engines re-installed. Super handy.
The cockpit is only accessible from a ladder from the fuselage...where we were... about 20 feet above us... sat on the runway in yellow knife felt like forever.. unbuckled to go look out the small round window... holy crap we were already 30k up.. didn't even know we had taken off.!!

Lol... for real... when I hitched a lift on a c 130 herc. the captain got me to fly the herc in the Arctic.. got home 1 week early... the captain was USCG pilot. He talked to my bosses and said "he is coming with us"... lmao they had to let me go... they dropped me off at the airport close to my base.. got a taxi home and kids woke up to daddy home.. wonderful memory.... US and Canada work together... screw the MSM.... division my ass.!!!
