They should be upset!

When people touch one of these sea turtle's shells, they not only stress the turtle out, but more importantly, they disturb the algae on the shell that protects the animal from disease and messes with their immune system. Being interfered with also changes their eating and mating habits. This animal will probably have a shorter life span and get infections more easily. They can get a virus that causes white growths or tumurs on them, which can impact their ability to see or feed.

On top of that, sea turtles are very important to the Hawaiian people both culturally and spiritually. They are spiritual ancestors. They are endangered and protected for many reasons.
