I'm recording a wonderful audio book, life story of a Christian gal from Texas who used to PULL WEEDS IN COTTON FIELDS with her brothers to bring in money when they were kids.
PROOF of what I've been saying all along, Americans CAN do any job, including those considered only for "migrants." It's the American way, you do what you have to do to survive. Take note, all you welfare divas about to need jobs.
"Working in the Cotton Fields. Some summers, when our family needed extra money, Mom would take us kids to work chopping weeds out of the rows of cotton fields for a local farmer. We’d arrive at the fields right at daybreak to avoid the severe West Texas summer heat. It was hot, tiring work. Even the meager wages the six of us earned helped our household afford needed groceries for the summer months. Adults earned only fifty cents an hour & kids maybe a dollar or two per day. .."

My brothers & I would make a game out of it & have fun since getting up early in the summertime wasn’t ideal. With four hungry boys to feed & no meals from the school during summer months, we didn’t have much choice. I don’t know how my mom made enough money to feed all of us, but she did."
