How about a change from all that heavy stuff coming our way. 😝
Anyone else had a good crop of Squash/Pumpkin this year?
They call Queensland Blue a squash, I call it pumpkin. Seeds haven't been true or of poor quality in the last couple of years, this year bingo!
The other one is supposed to be Marina di Chioggia, it's not. Still good, looks to have some Turban in it.
This year I bought 18 x 20 litre wide, short tubs direct from the manufacturer, with carriage they cost very l ittle each, a mere £2.67. I use a mixture of gritty soil dug from our roadside drain which has rotted leaves in it, mixed 50/50 by volume with my own well matured compost. We had a very hot dry year, so regular watering was essential.
The plants started to die back mid September, I planted them out from pot grown in a cold greenhouse in early June. No added fertilisers!
Apart from one small, late devekoper, I got 17, weighing from 2.25 lb to 5.25 lb, the big one back left. 😀
