Why Solar Panel Recycling Is Key to a Zero-Waste Future

Solar energy generation and capacity is increasing around the globe, yet solar panel recycling and environment stewardship of solar energy installations is needed too. Over the last 10 years, millions of solar panels have been installed, and it is imperative that due diligence is done to mitigate environmental impacts at the end of the useful life of the solar panel systems. Solar panels fall under the categor, "Usefull Life Expectency" of 25-30 years, depending on the panel model. With the first waves of solar installs approaching the end of their lifetimes, solar panel recyling will be even more important. Solar panel recycling is the environmentally sustainable disassembly of the panels so that materials (glass, aluminum frames, silicon cells, metals such as silver and copper etc.) can be recycled.
