My cousin invited me to a cancer walk to raise money, claiming it goes to help people with their travel expenses to MD Anderson Cancer Center. His sister goes there occasionally for treatments.
I haven't understood the reason for anyone having to travel far for cancer treatments, but anyways, I declined. One thing that turned me off was the requirement for the walkers to register on a website. The fact they wanted my name, address, and email address was a hard STOP for me. Can't remember whether other info was required. Sorry folks, you're not following me around if I can help it. I'm sure they realize how easy it is to tug at people's heartstrings and get them to commit to a donation, and not just once.
