The U.S. Supreme Court has affirmed that the government cannot compel individuals to pledge allegiance to the flag or state, as such compulsion would violate the First Amendment’s protection of free speech and religious freedom.
🔥 However, this protection does NOT extend to affirming loyalty to a foreign nation. In fact, the very act of pledging allegiance to a foreign nation would be incompatible with the constitutional duty of U.S. citizens (not to mention a US Congress member who is to swear an oath to our Constitution!) to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.🔥
