I think the over-emphasis of "gold" in the Oval Office is to accentuate and draw attention as a COMM to "The Golden Age." And the fact that we have the tech to actually make gold. There is no way Trump would hint at "hey, look at me, I have gold," while people are still struggling economically to make ends meet. Strictly COMMS, IMO.
