I suspect it has been around a long, long, time...but that the words we have been trained to use for it, is simply the new term for the time. Nothing "intelligent" about it. It is basically a book, (many many books) in motion. (Techknowledgy) A tool. Who controls the tool? What if it thinks it does - but it doesn't :) It is still, in the end, just a specter.
