5th Century comic playwright Eupolis said of poet Pindar's works, "They are already reduced to silence by the disinclination of the multitude for elegant learning."
Not sure why that strikes me.
I interpret elegant learning to be that of study of the higher faculties, spiritual teachings. When the multitudes are not interested in the study of spiritual knowledge they are easily led by others aka they become silent like sheep -Also I was curious as to why ancient Greek marble statues had no pupils and looked up that they were originally painted - I learned something new.🙂🌟
