Kat, I knew a very Good and Patriotic Man who was involved in Diplomatic Security for US State Department Operations. He was as Upstanding and Reliable as he was Formidable and assuredly Lethal. Highly Respected.
Still, HE DRANK HIMSELF TO DEATH, 😥
and no one could figure out why.
Now I am convinced it must have been because of what horrors he had witnessed, what he had bottled up inside, what NDAs he was forced to sign, and not being able to live with those haunting memories and knowing the consequences his family would surely suffer if he ever talked.
