today might really be a great day to stock up on food, water & necessities just in case of an emergency. 😃
Up to 30 days worth if you can.
Canned + Dry non-perishable food (doesn't have to be expensive, think rice, beans, pasta.)
Bottled water, maybe a camping water filter.
Medicine, First Aid Kit, Pet Food, whatever necessities you think you need.
Fill your BBQ propane tanks to cook & boil water.
Maybe a power generator to keep fridges cold, always run outside use heavy extension cords.
Spare fuel for genset and your vehicle safely stored.
Flashlights, batteries, cheap solar landscape lights work great too.
Personal self-defense protection on hand 24-7.
Maybe pack a bugout bag.
Get a CB or Ham Radio. (CBs avail at local truck stop for about $300), download SIGNAL app.
HAVE A RENDEZVOUS PLAN.
KNOW WHERE LOVED ONES ARE.
Protect Children & Elderly 24/7.
Don't be scared, BE PREPARED.

Kat, whatever caused the Blackouts in Europe, we gotta be thankful it happened during mild weather conditions of Spring and not in the DEAD OF WINTER. Juan O'Savin makes important note of that, and just as you say, it's even more reason to PREPARE for short-term emergencies.
No one should be scared, NO FEAR, but EVERYONE should try to be prepared with some level of self-sufficiency. I'll share my list in next response.
During an emergency, wouldn't it be nice to be the Patriot who tells the Military knocking on your front door who are asking if you need anything, to be able to say, "No thank you, I am prepared and comfortable presently, because I prepared - so please dedicate your resources to help others who are more in need."
That's the first definition of "freedom" when you don't have to depend on the government for anything.
