🧐 Kat, very interesting that picture of an underground tunnel, lower left of your graphics this post, which may show how the rock & dirt are converted to "glass" as a result of the nuclear-powered tunnel boring machines melting the rock, just as Gene Decode and Phil Schneider describe, creating an AIR-TIGHT tunnel which then can be sucked down to a vacuum to facilitate such high speed, aerodynamically friction-less train travel. Look at the reflection of the walls, yet not perfectly smooth, as if the rock melted and cooled into glass as the lasers of the boring machine melted the rock & dirt, fusing back into glass as it cools. A vacuum would be necessary for high-speed maglev-train travel, theoretically, otherwise air pressure and air friction (especially at higher density underground) to the front of the train would be prohibitive for reaching such high speeds.
