Interesting to see what definition of monopoly is applied.

In our area, there is one power provider, APS.

THEY say they are not a monopoly, because there is a housing development in Dewey that has its own power provider...

Problem with that is, they ONLY provide power to that development, noone outside can draw power from their facility.

I have often wondered if APS helps keep that facility solvent, whatever it pays, would be a drop in the bucket, to the money it would have to fork over if it were labeled 'a monopoly'.

Buying off the monopoly commission, is small potatoes to a mafia organization, and APS supplies to all of N AZ... as TEP supplies to S AZ and SEP to Phoenix. This cartel divided the state and keeps anyone else out.

It will be interesting to see what kind of fall out develops from this.
