One time I was giving my parents a hard time about going to sleep and my father beat me.
I always made my mother tuck my bed in so tight that I could hardly move. The result was that my father's hands kept bouncing off my bed. I was like, "Ha you bum-you can't hurt me, until I saw how my mother was getting more and more upset-I realized I had to do something.
I started screaming as if he was killing me and he stopped.
The demons, however, stayed at me until I was 31 years old when I met a man who came to my house to do some work.
He spoke of Jesus when I asked him about his calm demeanor.
I didn't believe him, so he said just try asking Jesus for help next time I was distressed.
Distress was right, had nightmares every night, sometimes, woke in terror.
I remembered what the man had said.
I asked Jesus to take away my nightmares.
And I didn't have nightmares after that. I didn't think of God again until 1987.
