Child porn site taken offline in major action, server was in the Netherlands

In a major international police action, a child pornography platform has been taken offline. This already happened on March 11, but was announced today by the police. More than 30 countries, many of them European, cooperated in the action.
The server was located in the Netherlands and was seized with the help of the Dutch police.
The platform called “KidFlix” hosted tens of thousands of videos of child sexual abuse online. Users paid via the dark web in crypto coins, after which they could watch videos. On average, a new video was posted on the site every three and a half hours, police say. Users could also stream videos themselves and offer videos.

2) Global action
The international operation was coordinated by Europol and lasted from March 10 to 23. Police forces from more than 30 countries searched for suspects during this period. Not only European countries participated in the action; Australia and Colombia, among others, also cooperated.
German police detected the platform in April 2022, after which an investigation was launched. Over nearly three years, 1.8 million users logged on to the website. Of these, 1,400 were identified by the police by examining the platform's payment traffic.
Dutch users
In the case, 1393 people were identified as suspects and 103 of them were investigated. Ninety-six searches were conducted.
Thirteen suspects were identified in the Netherlands and searches were conducted on five of them. Several data carriers, such as a laptop and a telephone, were seized in the process. Police have not yet arrested any people, but this may still happen after the data carriers are examined.
