Former Republican Senator Ray Holmberg was sentenced to 10 years in prison for traveling to Europe more than a dozen times to rape young boys.

The North Dakota man had previously pleaded guilty to traveling with the intent to commit illicit sexual acts.

Prosecutors accuse the once powerful lawmaker of traveling to Prague and the Czech Republic 14 times between 2011 and 2021 to pay for sex with young men.

The pervert is also said to have abused his position in politics to pay for sexual favors.

He is also accused of posing as a teenager in an online circumcision chatroom in 2012 in order to obtain images of children, including a 16-year-old Canadian boy.

The boy later took his own life.

Holmberg served in the North Dakota Senate for 45 years and retired in 2022.
