14 Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality. 15 Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. 16 Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

While working in Turkey in the early 90's , workmates and I took a week off to hire a bus and see the places of interest. A non scheduled stop on our road trip was Pergamon. I knew nothing of its history. When we got to the start of the ancient city something came over me (I'm sure it was God) that stopped me going any further. I stayed looking out over the water with my back to the city while the others explored. In 2020, almost thirty years later I learned it was the throne of Satan and the birthplace of pharmakia!
