India Raids Soros-Backed Offices Linked to the Open Society Foundations in Karnataka
On Tuesday, the Indian government conducted raids on eight offices linked to George Soros’ Open Society Foundations (OSF) in Bengaluru. These offices are accused of violating the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Investigations found that between 2020-2024, around ₹25 crore (approximately $2.9 million) was transferred from Soros' organizations to Indian NGOs via complex financial methods. The raids targeted businesses like Rootbridge Services Pvt Ltd and ASAR Social Advisor Pvt Ltd. The action follows concerns about foreign influence in India’s internal affairs.
