True but then again the people owning the grants didn't really put up much of a fight.
I am guessing you are not from these parts of the country!
I have been told by a family member who did the family history thingy that one of our earlier relatives was the Governor in St. Augustine , Florida. well before the Puratins were a spec in Virginia. There is also another who had a land grant in the New Mexico area.
