After decades of fighting to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO), the FOP’s relentless advocacy has paid off! The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced that retroactive benefit payments and increased monthly benefits will begin much sooner than expected!
🔹 Retroactive Payments: Eligible recipients will receive a one-time deposit by the end of March 2025, covering benefits dating back to January 2024.
🔹 Monthly Benefit Increases: Beginning April 2025, adjusted, full benefits will be reflected in Social Security payments.
🔹 SSA Notifications: Members receiving adjustments will be notified directly by the SSA.
The SSA is processing adjustments for over 3 million people. Most will be automatic, but some cases will require manual review. For questions, visit the SSA website or call 800-772-1213.
