We received our Dominion Elec bill today, it was $300.00 more then last month!! My husband was livid. We opted out of a "smart meter" and we believe they are taking advantage of us due to that. Our heating system is 3yrs old, we keep plastic on all our windows too. They refused to re-read the meter!!

My husband and are having the same problem. Summer months we are bearly paying $60 a month. December our bill was about $140. January our bill went up to $360. We thought, "oh well...it was a definatly colder. I guess the fireplace wasn't helping to cut down the electric heat as much as we thought."
Just got new bill for $498. After intentionally cutting down usage. Burning wood for living room and kitchen only because we turned off the electric heat in there. Closed off the unused area of our house, turned off the breaker to that area of the house. Only using electric heat in the bedrooms at night. Plastic on all windows. Window quilts over that.... for the last month.
We have been on the phone quite a few times because of this, getting the run around. And they are doing NOTHING about it.

Been here since 2021, Dad, 24yr Marine! Grandmother, love President Trump! May God Bless Us All, WWG1WGA! Virginia is home! Love Sewing!

Thanks for sharing Krys, we know next month it's bound to be the same thing. Someway, somehow we have to stop this. Those of us on Social Security can't do this every month!! The price of eggs in our area is over $7.00 a dozen. How are we expected to live? That's what they want, for us NOT to live!!

Yep. My electric company, which is Tri-County Co-op in Tarrant County, just upped the price of my opted out meter to an additional $50.00 per month from $19.70. I am seeing a pattern developing. A decided push to get us all on their destructive grid. Anyone else experiencing similar scheme in their town?
