In the Bible, Rachel weeping is mentioned in Jeremiah 31:15, where it is described as a voice in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children because they are no more. This passage is also referenced in Matthew 2:18, where it is linked to the slaughter of the innocents in Bethlehem by Herod.
