I added up the total of property taxes we've paid through the years and we could easily have bought another (very nice) house.
Meanwhile, many times, it was a struggle to pay them.
And don't be late, because the fines are ridiculous.
If property taxes aren't paid, eventually the government puts your property on the county rolls, which means that it goes up for sale at auction.
