I would encourage people to watch this. At least parts of it, because it is long.
When content creators can edit and smooth videos and add music and graphics; they are entertaining as much as teaching. This results in a catchy facade that can create a false sense of authenticity.
Billy Carson is revealed in this debate as not having the rigorous knowledge that is needed to make the claims he is making. He is an internet scholar and has made an internal view of the universe from partially unvetted material. Wes Huff, though burdened by the dogma of mainstream academia, shows a knowledge base that is many, many layers deeper than Carson.
In many ways, most anons are falling in the same traps as Carson. I include myself in this failure. It is nearly impossible to be both generalists and specialists. In order to truly know a topic, one must spend a lot of time studying it. There isn't time to study dozens of topics at this level. So the work must be spread out..
... spread out among many scholars. This creates vulnerabilities for fraud and deception because few have any discernment outside of their one widget.
For me, once I've been hurt by a deception, I have become very skeptical about verity of other information. This results in not trusting other scholars and needing to check everything myself.
This results in being bogged down by details that remove joy from life.
The deceptions and frauds cut us in many ways. They keep us from true knowledge. They insert false knowledge. They slow the building of knowledge. And they leave uncertainty, which paralyses personal growth.
Truth is a superior position because it does not need constant maintenance. Lies require more lies to sustain them. These rat lines of supporting fraud soon become untenable.
May Christ's Truth show us the way through His narrow gate. May His Truth give us discernment amongst this bramble of sinister lies.
