ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) -- A man who stole more than $500,000 from Saint Louis University has been hired by the City of St. Louis.

In 2019, Bretton DeLaria was employed by Saint Louis University to run its 1818 Program, which allows high school students to get college credit. His alma mater also honored him with a Young Alumni Award in 2019. However, that same year, federal prosecutors say he created and submitted fraudulent and fictitious invoices that SLU paid out.
