I grew up the same way. We grew our own food, and both sets of grandparents grew theirs as well.

One grandmother canned everything under the sun and they had a shed with shelves and shelves of canned food.

I can remember all of us sitting around a big circle, shucking corn. We made homemade ice cream, and grandad said we couldn't have any unless we took turns at the crank.

We never locked our doors and I used to walk to school by myself since first grade.

Happy with Life...Faith in Our Lord God...Love being outside...Enjoy

Same here-we snapped the green beans, chucked the peas-crazy-mom canned everything=family of 9 - we made ice cream at grandpas - cranked a long time- Grandpa was a Judge, sent his own son to jail for pouching
We had strawberries - raspberries - picked huckleberries - I climbed willow trees & ate green Peppers, tomatoes & cucumbers without salt
