Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum responded to Trump’s 25% tariff threat, warning, “One tariff would be followed by another in response, and so on until we put at risk common businesses.”

Sheinbaum emphasized that drugs are a U.S. problem, not Mexico’s, and cautioned against harming U.S. automakers with plants in both nations.

She also called for dialogue: “Dialogue is the best path to achieve understanding, peace, and prosperity for our 2 countries.”

Trump reiterated his demands, stating Canada and Mexico must address border security or “pay a very big price.”
