I did a quick search on Rep Mike Waltz, Trump’s new official selection for National Security Advisor.
He is a distinguished combat veteran, Green Beret, still serving Colonel in the National Guard, with experience at the Pentagon, and ran for office for the first time in 2018.
He’s not this establishment politician or Deep State neocon. His is a military man with experience at the Pentagon, with national security, and with counterterrorism.
He was one of the 126 Congressmen who backed Trump and contested the results of the 2020 election, and he also created legislation to combat Chinese espionage into our universities (remember the Chinese military agents that stole biomaterial from Harvard before Covid).
Those who are calling this a bad pick, or claiming Waltz is a neocon/warhawk, I think are being overzealous. On paper, it looks like a pretty good pick to me. Seems like the kind of competent individual we would want in charge of National Security.
