Why would we deviate from an EVIDENCE based approach?

Funnily enough, yesterday I was talking with hubs about how they could possibly divide the government up into 'areas with patriots, that love the country' as Trump stated in the video released yesterday.
I said to him, "They will have to look at peoples social media posts, over years. That will tell them who the people are."
It did feel kinda weird when I said it too...
