She must consider getting a lawyer immediately, preferably one who will be an advocate for her.
If there are people in NC who can also advocate for her, then they can attend hearings and make sure all the bad people know she has a lot of support.
This was a strategy that worked for a mother in my state who had to fight to keep her 3 children.
