An airplane pilot suffered major injuries shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday when his small aircraft crashed in a field near Olive Drive and southbound Highway 99, the Kern County Fire Department reported. The unidentified male pilot was rushed to a hospital. His condition was unknown.
