I have a friend who was in a similar situation. It got to the point where she had no choice but to let it go. When she finally did let it go - after a year of begging and getting no support, someone else did swoop in and kept things moving when there was no choice. People don't want to take responsibility, especially if someone else is willing to do it, but if they have to they will.
