Decades ago we would fly my step-daughter unaccompanied minor from Southern Oregon to Arizona. There was always a layover in San Francisco. The kids flying unaccompanied minor would wait in a lounge like this. What's weird to is she told us there was no bathroom in the lounge. The person assigned to escort them walked her through a bunch of hallways to the bathroom. While she was in there...I don't know what happened...but the escort LEFT and she came out of the bathroom and NOBODY was there. She was literally 10 years old BY HERSELF. Thankfully she was a fairly observant child and found her own way back to that room. When we found out later we were PO'd to say the least! Looking back now and what we know about missing kids, etc. Did he purposely leave her there for "someone" to come along and "help" her and they could claim that she wandered away? Did we dodge a huge bullet by her taking it upon herself to find her way back? OMGosh...the thought terrifies me. You pay Xtra for that!

My oldest once flew unaccompanied to FL many many years back. I was absolutely nervous, but my mom kept reassuring me it would be ok. never gain though! The entire time I was with that same feeling. Nothing happened, but Thank God!!!💛

Exactly! You are literally putting your trust in complete strangers with the most precious thing in the world...your child. What's scary is we started doing the unaccompanied minor thing at SEVEN years old! I just shake my head now and am so grateful that nothing truly bad ever happened.
