The alternative way to say it: Humanity will survive. The individuals who were willing to experiment on us and potentially kill us all off or sterilize our children are now going to come back and ask for our support and votes. Every candidate needs to be asked their position on the various technologies available. Think of it this way: if you were ever in a relationship with someone and assumed something about them (e.g., they want kids because you want kids) and spend years only to find out later they never wanted kids but you never asked so you invested time that you cannot get back. Ask these people what future for humanity they want. Ask often and ask early.
