Well, at least by adding it to tariffs, one can CHOSE whether to spend ones money.
Of course the tariffs will be handed right back to the customers - so expect the cost of EVERYTHING that is imported to go up.
Of course, if it is American made, there will not be a tariff, but, I am sure, the prices will be compatible regardless - as American companies can then make more profit, without paying tariffs, but charging close to the prices of those who do.
Wonder how Amazon is going to handle this complexity.
RE: Taxes versus tariffs: And it could go the other way, where imports would have to keep their prices down in order to compete with American goods.
So foreign companies, for the first time in a long time, would not be ripping us off and getting uber-rich in the process!

But you know the temptation to push the price up, then normalize it over time is strong...
